Opening and Editing MS Office Documents Online Using Local MS Office Installation

Just a memo...

try {
var sho = new ActiveXObject("SharePoint.OpenDocuments");
if (sho) {
if (!sho.EditDocument('http://localhost:8080/WebDAV-Milton-Test/milton/office.xls')) {
alert("EditDocument - error");
}
}
} catch(e) {
alert(e);
}

Works in IE7/8, Office 2003/2007.
Doesn't work for IE6/Office 2000 combination.

Other configurations were not tested.

P.S. WebDAV on java was implemented using Milton library.
